About sophia

My lived experiences, education, and training have led me to develop a unique perspective on the complexities of being a human and the distress, pain, and even trauma that can occur when these complexities are not heard and understood. By exploring your complexities together, we will both address their immediate distress and help you understand yourself more holistically, creating opportunities for sustainable healing and change. Complexities that clients and I commonly explore include intersecting identities; relationships with self, others, and the systems we exist in; life transitions and losses; acute and complex trauma(s); maladaptive coping behaviors; or any combination of the above. My treatment style is integrative—drawing upon psychoanalytic, mindfulness- and body-based, and solution-focused practices—and focuses heavily on a safe, compassionate, and collaborative therapeutic relationship.

I provide individual, couples, and family therapy with children, adolescents, and adults from all walks of life utilizing specialized education and training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy, perinatal mental health, and cancer-related issues. I am particularly passionate about working with people with traditionally marginalized identities, and I am antiracist; LGBTQIA+ and culturally affirmative; and CNM and Poly aware. I am a registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT135485) and Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC12559) currently being supervised by Dr. Lisa Osborn (PSY 21756) in her private practice.

Outside of my private practice work, I serve at Cancer Support Community Los Angeles (CSCLA), where I completed my graduate training. At CSCLA, I provide individual and family therapy for children, teens, and families who are impacted by cancer. I also facilitate support groups for young adult caregivers and children who are either living with or have a family member living with cancer. All of these services are at no cost to those participating.
